STEAM CLEANING Q & A
In our view there are three type of cleaning solutions available to you. All three will provide you with a cleaner carpet.
- Steam Cleaning: (hot water extraction) is the best options when extracting loose debris, dirt, and soils. The result is a cleaner and sanitised carpet. Depending on the amount of traffic, we recommend you steam clean your carpet every 6 to 12 months.
- Shampooing your carpet: (Encapsulation Carpet Cleaning) Would be a good alternative to steam cleaning. Chemicals and hot water are used with a swing shift. Scrubbing the floor slowly to ensure stains are removed. When dry we re-vacuum the carpet to remove crystallised soils and dirt.
- Dry cleaning: Dry cleaning, is referred to as a "surface cleaning". Less water is used but does not provide you with a deeper clean. The surface is cleaned but soils, dirt, and debris may still be in your carpet.

Encapsulation involves using extremely hot water and special chemicals that "encapsulate" or trap dirt, grease, and grime. Encapsulation converts sticky, oily substances into crystals, which can then be effectively vacuumed. It is a low moisture system because the super-heated water vapours evaporate very quickly.
The process is as follows:
- Move furniture and vacuum the carpet
- Mix solution with hot water and add it to a rotary machine
- Start from one corner of the room and work towards your exit point
- Allow carpet to dry
- Re-vacuum the carpet.
- Note: the solution will crystallise the dirt, soils, and grim making it easy to remove.
For further information on your carpet cleaning option, please contact us.
In a commercial environment it is recommended that you steam clean your carpets every 6 to 12 months. If there is high traffic at your business premises, we do recommend that you steam clean your carpets every 6 months.
Remember that in areas where there is high activity, it is more likely that soils, dirt, and debris will build up a lot quicker.
